Project 500 Competition Details
The Housing Authority of Grenada invites architects, engineers, students, and design professionals to participate in an initiative to shape the future of affordable housing in the Tri Island state of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. The “Project 500” Architectural Design Competition seeks innovative architectural concept designs that prioritize sustainability, inclusivity, and resilience.
Targeting a diverse audience, the competition emphasizes key design elements such as affordability, energy efficiency, water conservation, accessibility, sustainability, resilience, aesthetics, and efficiency of space.
Participants are challenged to create scalable housing models adaptable to various landscapes. Submissions must include architectural drawings, 3D renderings, a description of materials and construction techniques, and an affordability strategy. Designs will be judged based on innovation, practicality, sustainability, aesthetic appeal, and cost-effectiveness.
The competition, open to all Grenadians, encourages original work with the understanding that submitted designs may be used for promotional activities related to “Project 500.”

Project 500 Design Competition 2023
A conceptual design competition with a noble mission – to offer affordable housing solutions in Grenada that prioritize sustainability, accessibility, resilience, eco-smart design, affordability, energy efficiency, architectural diversity and resident comfort. In this creative challenge, your task is to seamlessly weave these criteria into your designs, ensuring they not only meet but exceed expectations of a vibrant and eco-conscious community.
